So we were gifted this rare crown of thorns grown in a lab at Rutgers. Her energy is amazing, thorny, organic, messy, and equally delicate and beautiful. Obsessed with these red orchids @cradbole takes care of so thoughtfully. I seem to disturb my plants more than help them so I paint them instead. What’s remarkable about these plants is that they take so long to bloom and once they cycle through flowering, it leaves the past stems like a graveyard, always having visibility to past selves. I’ll be the first to admit, although I try, I’m not the greatest at fixing things or buying second hand… So whenever possible, I like to make gifts for people. It brings a touch of personalization and thoughtfulness when you’re tired of buying from registries. And if you’re like me, you have a lot of friends and family doing big life things and that can get expensive. This style of art is simple but beautiful and can be easily changed for the occasion with colors and shapes. Make this for your loved ones, or for yourself in your own home. I use gauche for the circle and pick two colors that work well together. Create a shape with water and then put your paint where you like it to create a cloud like image. Then with your paper (I use gold party streamers from Amazon, they’re magical glued to paper) cut out a shape of your choosing. Then glue it. I use simple glue sticks you can get from the drug store.
